James Wesley Boykin
Funeral services for James Wesley Boykin, age 85, of Centerville were held at 2 PM, Friday, January 20, 2012 at the North Creek Baptist Church in northeastern Leon County. Rev. Jim Grable officiated and interment was in the North Creek Cemetery. Walters Funeral Home in Centerville was in charge of all arrangements.
James Wesley Boykin was born on September 20, 1926 in the Russell Community of Leon County to Benjamin Franklin & Berta Elizabeth (Collins) Boykin. He served as a Military Policeman in the U.S. Army during WWII and retired as an inspector for the Texas Department of Transportation. Except for his time served in the military, Mr. Boykin lived all of his life in Leon County. He enjoyed raising his cattle and also spent his free time gardening, watching westerns and playing hidden word puzzles. Mr. Boykin was a member of North Creek Baptist
Church. He passed away Tuesday, January 17, 2012 in Centerville. Mr. Boykin is preceded in death by his parents and son, Bobby Reed Boykin.
Surviving family include wife, Jean Boykin of Centerville; sons & daughters-inlaw, Johnny & Ann Boykin of Centerville and Benny & Doris Boykin of Centerville; daughters & son-in-law, Jaimie & Nevelin Pate of Bullard and Mary McGehee of Ft. Worth; sister, Madelyn Elizabeth Boyd of Nacogdoches; seventeen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jamie Boykin, Danny Boykin, Bobby Reed Boykin, Jr., Patrick Pate, Brian McGehee and Richard Boykin.
