Molly Glick – Buffalo Citizen of the Year

Sherry’s Shots The Buffalo Chamber of Commerce held its Annual Awards Banquet Saturday, January 21, 2012 at the Buffalo Civic Center. The purpose of the banquet is to recognize businesses, both profit and non-profit, and individuals who make recognizable contributions to the Buffalo community.

One of the top honors is Citizen of the Year. Karen Jackson, Chamber Vice President, acknowledged the recipient as Molly Glick, Chamber President, and owner/operator of G-Force Graphics. Molly is co-owner of Glick Automotive with her husband Mike.

The Banquet was well attended with several candidates for local elections on hand. Also attending were local dignitaries such as Buffalo Mayor Royce Dawkins and Leon County Judge Byron Ryder with his wife Dianne, who is on the Buffalo City Council. Leon County Sheriff Jerry Wakefield with wife Mamie was at the event as well. The meal was provided by Its Catered and featured steak, potatoes, salad and a smorgasbord of dessert.

At the beginning of the meeting, Glick thanked all those who help with the Buffalo Stampede and introduced the upcoming year’s officers. In addition to Glick as President and Jackson as Vice President, Randall La- Cour is Secretary/Treasurer and Directors are Phillip Bounds, Tonya Champion, Tabatha Doss, Tanya Foster, Wain Glass, Tabitha Taylor and Jessica Wood. Alternate Directors are Chris Glick and Samatha Glick. JoAnn Cockrell is the Chamber secretary.

The Lord’s Pantry for Leon County and Buffalo Volunteer Fire Department were each awarded “Non- Profit Organization of the Year” by Tabatha Doss and Phillip Bounds. Wain Glass accepted for The Lord’s Pantry and John Johnson and Zahari Valles-Villa accepted for BVFD.

Molly Glick announced this year’s Business of the Year as Davis Country Store. Tom Davis and son-in-law Bobby Fishbeck accepted the award.

Wain Glass recognized the following new businesses: Southern Grace, Sarandos Ranch Events Center, Family & Urgent Care Clinic, Zumba Fitness, County Girl Couture, Rhonda Simpson Photography, Barbeque Depot and Tieperman Chiropractic Clinic.

Throughout the evening door prizes were given with the $50 prize going to “A to Z Construction”.
