Lady Bison head into district with 12-4 record
     The BHS Lady Bison wrapped up predistrict play last week with three more wins and are sitting at 12-4 as they get ready for their first district game. That contest will be at Eustace on Tuesday and Buffalo will host Blooming Grove on Friday.  VS GROVETON

Lady Panthers pick up All-District volleyball honors
     The Oakwood Lady Panthers Volleyball team racked up quite a few District honors this year, including several of the superlatives. Whitney Hicks was named All-District Setter. Christina Hudson is the Defensive Player of the Year. Both were also named All Academic, along with Breann Hicks.

     The Oakwood Junior High Lady Panthers hosted the Lovelady Lady Lions last Monday evening. Although they played hard, the Lady Panthers could not keep the win at home.

     The Oakwood Varsity Lady Panthers basketball team, consisting of only five girls, are finding the going pretty tough. They play hard but they get tired. That fatigue has led to a losing week. VS Kennard’s Lady Tigers:

Tigers even record at 6-6
     The Centerville Tigers finished third in their varsity tournament held December 8-10. Earlier in the week, on December 6th, the Tigers lost to Snook 34-52. The previous week the Tigers’ Ryan Payne had broken an ankle against Montgomery in the Madisonville tournament and will be lost for six weeks. VS SNOOK

Lady Tigers win their own tournament
     The Centerville Lady Tigers defeated Grapeland in the finals of their Centerville National Honor Society Tournament. The three-day tournament was from December 8-10. The first game for the Tigers was against Normangee on Thursday and the Tigers had little trouble as they won 48- 27.

Cougars capture 4th in C’ville tournament
     The Leon Cougars competed in the Centerville National Honor Society tournament December 8-10 and secured 4th place. The Cougars tangled with a very quick Madisonville Mustang team in their opening game of the tournament and suffered a 65-94 defeat on December 9th. The Cougars trailed by 7 points 15-22 after the first period, and by 16 after the second quarter.
