On 8/17/11 at about 850 pm the Leon County Sheriff's office responded to the Leona Country Store at the intersection of FM 977 West and I-45 for the report of an armed robbery. Buffalo residents watched anxiously Friday afternoon as ambulances, fire department vehicles and law enforcement officers sped through town toward Oakwood. They were responding to a two-vehicle accident two miles west of Oakwood on Highway 79 reported at 3:50 on August 19. Funeral services for Garret Herbert Aigner, age 90, of Leona were held at 3 pm, Sunday, August 14, 2011 at the Walters Funeral Home Chapel in Centerville. Rev. Joe Dacus, pastor of the Leona Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was in the Leona Cemetery in Leona.  More...
