BISD did not escape the recent cold spell scott-free. School was cancelled on Friday for a snow day, and on Saturday afternoon some of the Little Dribblers planned a practice at the BJHS gym. The county commissioners hope to send a message to Austin with a resolution approved at the February 3rd meeting of the Leon County Commissioners Court. State legislators are proposing severe budget cuts and (in layman’s terms) the resolution basically states: “We don’t want unfunded mandates -- don’t cut funding and expect the counties to pick up the slack.”  More...

The Lady Bison hosted Malakoff on Tuesday evening, and needed to knock off the Lady Tigers to solidify their playoff hopes. They did just that -- with only eight players suited up -- posting a 50-42 win in their home gym.  More...

COLLEGE STATION — Wet, mild weather improved winter pastures during the last week of January, according to Texas AgriLife Extension Service personnel.  The winter storm that struck Feb. 1 brought more moisture, which should benefit crops, but the extreme cold was expected to further stress livestock.  More...
