Buffalo defeats Italy, 41-21
The Bison are back!
      Coach Mark Read's Buffalo Bison shook off a disappointing district opener last week and rebounded with their best offensive effort of the season for a big win at Brewer Field on Friday night. Their opponents, the Italy Gladiators, were Dave Campbell’s pre-season pick to win District, with an outstanding senior quarterback, Anderson, expected to play Division I college ball next year.

Lady Bison playoff hopes die -- Lady Cougars roll on
      The Lady Bison volleyball team faced two opponents last week in district play.   In a road game on Tuesday at Eustace, the Lady Bison lost in three, 9-25, 16-25, 14-25.

JV men trounce the Gladiators
      The Junior Varsity team confidently took the field at Italy High School on Thursday evening to battle the IHS Gladiators. The game was riddled with miscues but the Bison came away with a solid victory, winning 32-12.   Calvin Young took the opening kickoff for good gain, as he would continue to do much of the game, even after twisting his right ankle in the first quarter.

Junior High team wins at Italy
      A combined team of 7th and 8th grade Bison defeated the Italy Gladiators on Thursday, October 14.   The BJHS defense stopped Italy cold on their first possession, and the Bison offense took the field. Quarterbacked by Logan Freeman, they used a mix of passing and running plays to march down the field. Buffalo got on the scoreboard on a touchdown pass from Freeman to Lane Shelton.

Lady Tigers roll on in district action
      The Lady Tigers improved to a record of 32-5 for the season and 9-0 in district play as they defeated New Waverly 25-16, 25-13, and 25-14 on October 12th.   The Tigers dominated all 3 games and all players got into the games gaining valuable experience.

Panthers humble the Humble Christian Cougars
      Sometimes, playing nice does not pay off and it did not for the Humble Christian Cougars. After a last minute cancellation by Blum, HCHS agreed to come down to Oakwood to play a little football. They went back home with only one touchdown, shadowed by OHS' score of 56.

LHS Cougars defeat CHS Tigers, 33-6
      The Leon Cougars were coming off a loss last week and the Centerville Tigers had defeated arch rival Buffalo. They met on October 15th in Jewett in LHS’ homecoming game.

LHS crowns Homecoming Queen
     The week of October 10th was Leon Homecom- ing Week with the climax being the crowning of this year’s queen on October 15th at the Leon/Centerville football game. Celebrations involved a community-wide pep rally at Cougar Stadium on Wednesday evening and a reunion of former students on Friday evening before the game. On Saturday morning exes were treated to a tour of the new school.
