A Buffalo High School sophomore had a very close call recently while competing in a CPRA rodeo in Columbus, Texas. Fifteen-year-old Heather Humphries, daughter of Jennifer and Brian Humphries of Buffalo, is very successful competitive barrel racer. She acquired new horse in April, "Mean Dash", and was riding her in the barrels competition on Friday, September 10 when the unthinkable happened.  More...

A Funeral Mass for Marta Cerda age 81 of Jewett, Texas was held 3:45 pm Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the Blessed Kateri Catholic Church in Buffalo, Texas with Father Benji of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mexia officiating. Interment was in the Sardis Cemetery near Jewett, Texas.   More...

Back in the saddle again
Texas High School Rodeo Association (THSRA) Region 9 action kicked off with Rodeo #1 in Groesbeck on September 12 and Rodeo #2 was held in Huntsville on September 26. Competition will continue at two-week intervals throughout the winter and spring, and students from Leon County high schools are consistently among the leaders in the highly competitive sport.   More...
