Oakwood's Jr. High football team took on the Apple Springs Eagles this week on their home turf. They were in it to win it! They sent the Eagles home with a devastating lose of 25-0.

Although things started out slow, 0-0 in the first quarter, Jerome Dawson had a sweet 55 yard pass to John Venable in the second quarter to pick up the first touchdown of the game. Trey Minter backed it up with the extra point. The 7-0 score didn't sit long. Venable ran 34 yards to pick up the first TD of the second quarter and put the score at 13-0 going into the half. Venable came back with his third TD of the night off a 46 yard run early in the third quarter. The OJH Panthers held off the Eagles for the rest of the third quarter and left the score at 19-0. Venable picked up the last TD of the game off a 12 yard pitch to put Oakwood's score at 25.

Photo by Melissa Missildine As Apple Springs did not have a 6th grade team to play against Oakwood's 6th graders, the OJH Coaches made the decision to give these guys a chance to play with the big boys. These boys gave their all and went head to head, or shoulder to shoulder, with boys much bigger than them. In some cases, twice as big! They not only held off the Eagles but were on their way to a touchdown of their own when the clock ran out on them. The OJH 6th graders left Apple Springs...in the dust with a shutout score of 0.

OJH will host the Trinidad Trojans this Thursday at 5:00PM at Panther Stadium.
