Bison fall short in Homecoming battle
      The Bison had a huge Homecoming crowd for last Friday’s game against the Mildred Eagles. The teams were well matched and the game was exciting, but injuries to key players proved costly and the Bison ultimately lost the contest, 13-21.

5K and Fun Run challenge area runners
      The Second Annual Buffalo Stampede 5K provided local runners with a chance to "do their thang" and proved to be an exciting opportunity for those new to the sport to be medal contenders. At the opening event at Saturday's Stampede, racers met at the entrance to Harriman Park, where they could choose the 5K race (3.1 miles) or one-mile "Fun Run".

      The youngest Buffalo Bison kept their perfect streak alive with a shutout over Corsicana at Brewer Field on Thursday evening.

JV Men pluck the Eagles
      The Bison Junior Varsity men managed the only Buffalo win against Mildred, defeating the Eagles on their home turf, 46-16.   Buffalo scored first on a 5 yard run by Taylor McGill early in the first quarter. McGill carried on the successful PAT run as well, and BHS was up 8-0.

Mildred proves rough start for the BJHS gridiron teams
      After a rain out last week, the Junior High Bison finally kicked off their season in Mildred on Thursday, September 16. The youngest Bison represented their school well in their first outing in Purple and Gold, but in their eagerness they had some trouble hanging on to the ball and both teams fell to the Eagles.   7TH GRADE ACTION

OHS Volleyball update
      The Oakwood Varsity Lady Panthers Volleyball team met the Ladycats Friday night in Crossroads on Tuesday. The first set ended with a score of 9-25. The second set was 21-25. The third set was 16-25. The Ladycats took all three sets.

Leon’s Lady Cougars roll on in district play
      The Leon Lady Cougars stretched their season record to 27-2 with victories against Blooming Grove and Mexia. The Cougars tangled with the Blooming Grove Lady Lions on September 14 and rolled to an easy win as they crushed the Lions 25-6, 25-10, and 25-6. In the first game the Cougars came out hitting on all cylinders and jumped to a 11-1 advantage, then an 18-2 lead before winning 25-6.

Oakwood JV smacks down Apple Springs
      Apple Springs did not have a 6th grade team to pit against Oakwood’s 6th graders but what they did have was a JV team. Oakwood does not. OHS does, however, have enough young players on their High School team to pull them down to play JV... and they did. These guys played their hearts out and showed the Eagles what “Bring the ‘Wood” is all about.

Centerville Lady Tigers undefeated in district play
      The Lady Tigers defeated Anderson-Shiro on September 14th 21-25, 25-21, 25-16, and 25-21. The Tigers then traveled to New Waverly on Saturday September 18th and came away with a 25-11, 25-8, and 25-17 victory. The two victories upped the Lady Tigers season’s record to 25-5 but more important the Tigers are a perfect 3-0 in district competition.

OJHS boys shut out Apple Springs Eagles
      Oakwood's Jr. High football team took on the Apple Springs Eagles this week on their home turf. They were in it to win it! They sent the Eagles home with a devastating lose of 25-0.

Catfight! Oakwood Jr High Lady Panthers battle Kennard Lady Tigers
      The Oakwood Jr. High Lady Panthers traveled to Kennard to play against the Lady Tigers. Head Volleyball Coach Stephanie Lucio said, "Candace Hudson had some amazing service aces. Hallie [Smith] really played the floor well. Ronneishia [Randle] got some good bumps. We are still working on trying to get our bumps to the setter and to get a hit.

C’ville Tigers fall to Trinity
      The Centerville Tigers travelled to Trinity on Friday to square off against another group of Tigers.   CHS started strong, leading 13-0 after one quarter. Trinity came back with a big 20-point second quarter and outscored CHS two touchdowns to one in the fourth to take a 33-19 win.
