Royal Oscar Dean “Rod” Cravey

Funeral services for Royal Oscar Dean “Rod” Cravey, age 77, of the Rob- bins Community near Jewett, were held at 10 AM, Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville. Rev. Billy Bob Evans officiated and burial was in the Concord Cemetery in Concord. Walters Funeral Home in Centerville was in charge of all arrangements.

Royal Oscar Dean Cravey was born September 15, 1932 in Leon County, Texas and was a lifelong resident. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a pipefitter and welder in the fabrication industry for most of his life. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Jewett, Texas and was a Baptist. Mr. Cravey was a rancher and liked baling hay. He enjoyed watching all kinds of sports and loved to dance. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Willie Pearl Grimes. Mr. Cravey passed away in the Temple V.A. hospital on Saturday, September 11, 2010.

Surviving family includes his wife, Pansy Cravey of the Robbins Community; step-children: Ronald Hazelton and wife, Karen of Sweeny, Brenda Polek of Clute, Marsha Speed of Fairfield, Durwin Hazelton and wife, Carrie of Jewett, Brenda Duke and husband, David of Splendora, Jeff McAdams and wife, Tina of Buffalo, Melissa Hancock and husband, Shawn of Newby and Cindy Sitton and husband, John of Jewett; a nephew, Jerry Grimes and wife, Debbie of Flynn; cousin, Larry Cravey as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Pat Robinson, Nathan Robinson, Jonathan Hazelton, Dustin Hazelton, Blair Hazelton & Derek Welch.
