One dies in early morning Buffalo auto accident

One person has died and another injured in an early morning accident in Leon County, Texas in which the driver told investigating troopers he was texting on his cell phone at the time of the accident.

The Department of Public Safety reports the accident occurred within the city limits of Buffalo, Texas about 1:30 this morning (Tuesday) on US Highway 79. A 2009 Chevy Panel Truck driven by Shadoe Martin of Chandler, Texas was southbound on US 79 and struck the rear of an 18-wheeler towing a tanker trailer that had stalled at that location. Martin told troopers he was texting at the time of the accident and did not see the truck was stalled.

A passenger in the panel truck died after being transported to East Texas Medical Center in Fairfield. She was identified as 21-year-old Corina Daydee Bundy of Tyler. Martin was reported in stable condition at East Texas Medical Center in Fairfield. Driver of the 18-wheeler, identified as Chrishtopher Donald Booker of Fresno, Texas, was not injured.
