      Texas AgriLife Extension Service Leon County and Crown Home Health are once again partnering to bring to Leon County the Do Well, Be Well with Diabetes series. The series will only be 2 days this fall: September 29, 2010, and October 6, 2010. Registration will begin at 8:30 am and classes will begin at 9:00 am and last un- til noon.

     AUSTIN – (Aug. 30, 2010) For the week ending Aug. 28, feeder cattle prices at Texas auctions were mostly steady to $3 higher, with a few as much as $8 higher. However, some sales later in the week were $1 to $4 lower. Tight supplies and good demand continue to support markets, though the hot, dry weather and somewhat volatile grain prices have limited gains.

      STEPHENVILLE -- Think you're uncomfortable in the extreme Texas summer heat? Try being an ovulating 1,200-pound mother cow. Studies have shown that heat-stressed dairy cows suffer from damage to their ovarian follicles. Moreover, the eggs produced by the damaged follicles may also be damaged, said Dr. Todd Bilby, Texas AgriLife Extension Service dairy specialist.
