The youngest Bison hosted Teague at Brewer Field on Thursday, and they had no trouble handling the larger school in the season opener. The offense was successful both on the ground and through the air, and the Bison defense limited the Lions to 3-and-out on almost every possession.
The teams traded fumbles early in the first quarter, but after Trent Martin recovered the Lions' miscue, BHS settled down and went to work in earnest. QB Logan Jones connected with Bobby Dorman for 23-yard gain, Brendan Smith added a 15- yard run and Martin punched it in from the 2-yd-line for the Bison's first score. Jones kept for the PAT and BHS was up 8-0 late in the first quarter. A good run by Jones and a long pass completion to Tyler Adams set up Martin's second touchdown run. Smith and Adam Simpson were the workhorses on Buffalo's next drive, and Smith scored the TD to put BHS on top 20-0. Martin and Jones anchored the next possession and Jones connected with Adams in the endzone for touchdown #4 with just seconds left in the first half. Dorman added two on the PAT and BHS led by 28.

A Bison fumble early in the second half opened a door for Teague, but the Bison defense quickly closed it. A Teague defender then stripped the ball from Jones, but again the defense quickly got it back. Jones then connected with Adams on a 40-yard pass play and Martin took it in for the Bison's final TD. Simpson carried on the two-point conversion and BHS led 36-0 late in the third.
Teague fans enjoyed a 62-yd touchdown early in the final quarter, but Kyle Read broke up the PAT attempt. Simpson returned the ensuing kickoff for what looked like a TD, but a penalty flag -- one of many in the quarter -- nullified that score, and the game ended 36-6.
