What a great way to start off the teacher in-service week prior to the start of the 2010-2011 school year! The ladies of the Oakwood Education Extension Club served breakfast in the school cafeteria last Monday to the entire staff of OISD. It is a tradition started many many years ago that the EE Club has kept going with gusto. The tradition is sometimes breakfast; sometimes lunch but always a yummy way to let the teachers and staff know how much they are truly appreciated.
OISD Superintendent Richard Scoggin gave a brief, uplifting speech before ev- eryone dove into the spread of fruit, breakfast casserole, pastries, and the awesomeness that is sausage gravy and angel biscuits. According to members of the EE Club, most of the credit for the planning of this year's event goes to Joann Bing and Carlie Herbert.
They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day and that it gives your brain a much needed energy boost. So, After everyone had their fill, the teachers gathered up the bounty of school supply goodies that adorned the tables and headed off to ready their classrooms for the big event on Monday.
