No one is going to be bored in Becky Ruen’s classes

Becky Ruen Becky Ruen Buffalo High School's new math teacher is a highenergy lady who is excited about her subject and her new school. Ms. Ruen will be teaching Algebra II, Pre- AP Algebra, Geometry, Math Application and TAKS Remediation. It's a big load, but she seems more than up to the challenge. ANY challenge, apparently.

Becky used to be a DJ for KORA radio in Bryan in the late '80s, when she was Becky Butler. She had the midnightto 6:00 show and once did a live broadcast from the top of the Aggie Bonfire stack at 2:00 a.m. (Don't worry -- it was a couple of weeks before they lit it.)

For fun these days, Ruen participates in "Boot Camp" and likes to run. She was the top finisher in her division at last year's 5K Polish Pickle Run in Bremond. Don't mess with this lady.

Becky grew up in Lake Jackson, Texas and graduated from Brazoswood High, where she played the flute in the band and played summer softball. She married Joel Ruen in '88, while attending Texas A&M, then along came their children. Working in sales while getting her education, the mother of three jokes that she "squeezed four years into twelve', before graduating from Stephen F. Austin in '91. She got her teaching certificating in 2002 and began to teach at Stephen F. Austin Middle School in Bryan, earning "Teacher of the Year" honors there during just her third year of teaching. She moved over to Iola ISD where her kids went to school and taught there several years. The Ruen family came this way in 2008, relocating with Joel's job at the Luminant Oak Grove power plant. Their home is now in Oletha.

Becky's oldest son Jordan (20) is a sophomore at Navarro. Stephen (17) is a senior at Groesbeck High and Evan (14) is a sophomore there.
