Last night, at the regularly scheduled meeting, the OISD School Board approved the 2009-2010 budget report given by Superintendent Richard Scoggin. According to Scoggin, "We are about $82 ahead on the expenditures. When you do the math and all the balances are added together basically, we've got a balanced budget."   More...
Vera T. Harris, 91, formerly of Fairfield, died Saturday, August 28, 2010 in Wortham. Graveside services were at 12:00 p.m. Monday, August 30, 2010 at Fairfield Cemetery with Rev. Terry Skinner officiating. There was no visitation.   More...
“We Care Support” group will meet Tuesday instead of Money due to Labor Day holiday. Meeting time will be Tuesday, Sept. 7 at 1:30 p.m. at Buffalo Missionary Baptist Church, Haggard/Main behind Tom’s Mini-Mart. Bison win home opener
The Buffalo Bison kicked off the 2010 season with a balanced attack and an exciting win at Brewer Field on Friday, August 27. Their opponent was the Bremond Tigers, who last year advanced far into the 1A playoffs.   The Tigers won the toss, but in their opening possession, Jesus Lopez and Tate Hartley had big stops and the Bison defense denied Bremond a first down.   More...
The Leon County Youth Livestock Show is looking for a few good men, women or kids. The committee is having a logo contest that is open to all who wish to participate with the grand prize being $200 cash. The purpose of the contest is to encourage anyone with art ability and imagination to come up with a logo for the Leon County Youth Livestock Association.  More...
COLLEGE STATION - Officials have completed the difficult task of notifying employees whose jobs with the Texas AgriLife Extension Service will end between now and Oct. 31. The personnel cutback affects 94 jobs - 31 vacant positions that will not be filled and 63 occupied positions that will be eliminated agencywide.  More...
