Against Tax Increase

To Buffalo ISD Taxpayers

This letter is a restatement of information I wrote about in last week’s paper, however, I felt it important to remind the taxpayers of Buffalo ISD about the public meeting scheduled on August 30, 2010, at 6 PM in the new high school. The purpose of this meeting is to adopt a budget and to look at a proposed school tax increase for the taxpayers of Buffalo ISD. As I stated last week, I am opposed to a school tax increase because our district has a considerable surplus of funds on hand to offset any unforeseen economic decline in our tax base. I don’t believe in levying taxes that are not needed. If you pay school taxes either on land owned in the district or if you own a business in the district you need to let the trustees know how you feel regarding this situation. Some taxpayers live outside the school district but own land or businesses inside the district. If you are interested in this issue, mark your calendars for the public meeting on Monday, August 30, 2010 at 6:00 PM in the new high school or contact your elected trustees and let them know how you feel regarding the proposed school tax increase.
