The Bison hosted Normangee and Teague in a threeschool controlled scrimmage (15 offensive plays, then 15 defensive) on Saturday, August 14. There was plenty of action for the fans as each school brought freshmen, junior varsity and varsity teams, and at times there was play going on simultaneously at both ends of Brewer Field. More ... There was plenty of volleyball action last week as the Lady Bison hosted their season opener on Tuesday and participated in the Fair- field Tournament later in the week. More ... The Oakwood Panther's high school football team traveled to Bynum Saturday, August 14, for their first scrimmage of the season. This scrimmage was a fourway including Oakwood, Bynum, Iredale, and Covington. According to Offensive Coordinator Coach Tommy Tritz, "the boys did really well out there." More ... The Lady Panthers’ scheduled game with Frankston (August 13) was cancelled. This week Oakwood and Buffalo will face off in a neighborly rivalry at Buffalo at 4:30 in the new BHS gym on Highway 75. More ... The junior varsity and the varsity had their bright moments in the controlled scrimmage against Trinity on August 14th. Kirby Watson quarterbacked the varsity. Several Cougar defensive backs broke up long passes. Coach Sitton saw several bright spots and also saw some areas that need improving before their opening game against Elkhart on August 27th. More ... The Lady Tigers kicked off their volleyball season by defeating Fairfield, Mexia, and winning the Clifton tournament to remain undefeat- ed. More ... In a controlled scrimmage the junior varsity and the varsity had their bright moments. Garrett Chase quarterbacked the varsity and running back Jamal High broke for several good runs. The defense was stout against the run and the pass. More ... The Lady Cougars volleyball team looks strong this year as they defeated Mexia, Caldwell, and won the Grandview tournament to post an impressive 8-0 mark. More ... Hilltop Lakes WGA - The WGA 18-hole ladies played "Par 4's (1/2 Handicap)"on August 12th. 1st low net - Shirley Schiamara; 2nd went to Nancy Keown; 3rd to Georgia Gibson; 4th to Helen Prejean; 5th to Faye Weller. The weather was hot, but Shirley Schiamara's golf game was even hotter. She had Low Putts with only 25 putts and the only Birdie (on #18). More ... |
