Tales from WannaBea Farm

Joyce Stark

One of my wonderful WWII Veterans wrote this poem for me about the WannaBeA Farm and I loved it so much that I decided to use it as my story today. I hope ev- erybody enjoys it as much as I did.

A Visit to WannaBeA Farm

At the first rays of the morning sun This days work has just begun Come go with me, and let us see The workings of the Wannab

First we walk to the barn for feed Then carry full buckets for our critters needs Love the chores, they do no harm Boy the newborn calves can really charm

Their names are really just for fun One is “Second Helping”, The other “Yum Yum’ Come on Sheeba, That’s our dog When it comes to eating, she’s a Hog

Next our six hens and, One lucky Rooster Not as spry today, not like he usta All Six Guineas are all looking at him Wondering, will he ever be the same again

Romeo & Juliet, our only two geese (Got rid of the Goat) so no more fleece Prance proudly around as they call Think it’s just for them, they own it all

Down on the pond if we’re in luck You’ll see 13 Black Belly, “Whistling Ducks” They are just a pleasure for the eye Living happy here, under God's blue sky

Our cat has kittens I think it’s three We’ll leave them alone and let them be I think that does it we’re all through Chores not bad, I don’t think, do you?

Well back to the house for mornings breakfast Works all done, gosh we did that real fast How about some ham, eggs, biscuits & gravy Things on the farm, for now are “Ship Shape” (As the ole saying goes in the Navy) Another blessed day the Lord has given me along with all my animals here at the Wannab
