Lady Bison host Crockett, Normangee in scrimmage

The new BHS gyms were broken in properly on Saturday morning when the Lady Bison volleyball teams hosted Crockett and Normangee in a three-team scrimmage. There were freshmen, junior varsity and varsity contests throughout the morning and early afternoon, taking ad- vantage of the competition court and both courts in the practice gym.
Initially, the varsity team will be composed of one senior, six juniors and two sophomores, although the roster is not yet set in stone.
The Lady Bison’s new head coach Daryl Skelton was excited about the way his young team performed, pointing out that they played especially well against Normangee, which is ranked #2 in 1-A in preseason polls.
“We saw a lot of good things today, and a lot to work on,” Skelton shared. “A lot of hustle, good communication -- a lot of trust in each other. The girls swung good, they served good. I am very enthusiastic about this upcoming year. I hope to be competitive in this district and have a shot at the playoffs.”

The JV and Freshmen squads also showed a lot of promise.
All three teams get down to business this week. The Lady Bison host Frankston August 10, beginning at 4:30. , competing in the Fairfield Tournament August 12-14.
