R.R. Wiley, Jr.
Mr. Wiley died Friday at Conroe Regional Medical Center. He was born April 20, 1924 in Oakwood to Roddy Rawls Wiley, Sr. and Frances Davis Wiley. He received an electrical engineering degree in 1945 and a law degree in 1949 from the University of Texas at Austin where he was a member of Delta Upsilon Fraternity. His first job out of law school was working at the National Bank of Commerce in Houston. Two years later, he left to pursue employment in his chosen field, working as a seismographer, mathematician and then a contract negotiator for Texas Instruments. He took a leave of absence to run the Oakwood State Bank after the death of his father in 1958 and continued as bank President until his death. Mr. Wiley also owned and operated the R.R. Wiley Insurance Agency. He was active in the Oakwood Lions Club, Salvation Army and was former Mayor of Oakwood. He loved making annual trips to Colorado and building his Christmas snow village in the bank. Above all things, he loved his family. Mr. Wiley was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 46 years Marjorie Wiley, son Roddy R. Wiley, III, daughter Mary Margaret Wiley and sisters: Catharyn Heatly and Zoe Millichamp. He is survived by a daughter Margaret Roccaforte and husband Garry of Conroe; grandchildren: Nicholas and Mary Roccaforte; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Nicholas Roccaforte, Brent Bing, Martin Saunders, Rudy Perez, Patrick Gusa and Roddy Millichamp.
