Buffalo High students and parents: Schedule pickups and registration for high school students will be Thursday, August 12, from 5-8 p.m. All students and parents need to attend and pick up schedules and complete paperwork for the upcoming school year. Schedule changes really need to be made at this time if possible. More ... In less than two weeks classes will begin at Leon and most of the students will have new, or at least, different digs. The magnificent high school, including a new 1200 seat gymnasium, a black box theater and sound proof band hall, will be open for studies on August 23, 2010. More ... Errol "E.J." Jones is not exactly new to BISD. After moving his family here two years ago, he has done some substitute teaching at all campuses. He often drew the assignment of filling in for the ISS (In School Suspension) teacher last year and and beginning this fall Jones comes on board full time as the ISS teacher and a coach in the boys program. More ... The new coordinator of the girls athletic program at BISD is Jozette Jenkins. She will be the head girls basketball coach and assist in volleyball and track. More ... Krista Gleghorn is a fresh, new face on the BJHS campus. While she could almost pass for one of the students, this petite new teacher is actually graduating from Texas A&M this week with a teaching certificate in Ag/Science. More ... The football team is working two-a-days, the volleyball team is scrimmaging other area teams and the marching band is getting ready for the upcoming season. Workers are putting finishing touches n buildings and outdoor facilities and teachers are checking their classrooms to be sure everything is where it needs to be. It must be time for school to start.
