2010-11 fall programs kick off with pre-season practices

      The powers that be in UIL declared August 2nd as the opening date for local schools to begin pre-season practices. Larger schools -- those which held Spring Training -- will have to wait a week. Buffalo High School’s football program began holding “two-a-days” on Monday afternoon at 5:00 p.m.

O’Neal returns to his first love -- teaching/coaching

      After leaving education to pursue a career in industry, Jim O'Neal is following his heart back into coaching. In an interview before Junior Bison Football Camp on Thursday, a big smile verified that it has been the right decision as he proclaimed decisively, "I'm loving what I do again!"

BHS volleyball season fires up

      Coach Daryl Skelton has stepped up to take the reins of the Lady Bison volleyball program. Skelton, who is himself a graduate of Buffalo High (Class of ‘93) follows Lori Shaw as head coach after three years as an assistant in the BHS program.

Introducing the 2010-11 Bison Belles

      The Bison Belle drill team held their line camp last week here in Buffalo. They did some conditioning and learned all the dances that will be performed this season. There were also two guest choreographers to teach the competition dances for the year. It was an intense week for the girls, but they made a lot of progress and look forward to the upcoming season.

Belles host Kiddie Camp
      The Belles will hold their Kiddie Camp this year on August 9-11 at the old high school gym. The camp is for girls 3-10 years of age, and cost is $25 (which includes their camp t-shirt). Participants will spend the mornings learning a short dance and there will also be games and snacks.

Learning the basics

      Over thirty youngsters (elementary through incoming 9th graders), attended Junior Bison Football Camp last week. They learned fundamentals of the sport and honed their gridiron skills under the tutelage of the BHS football coaching staff. On Thursday the students participated in Punt and Pass competition in three age divisions.
