District Courthouse founder honored
It may have been a long time coming, but the folks who were instrumental in the creation of the Leon County District Courthouse were honored in a ceremony on Wednesday morning, on the occasion of the completion of courthouse renovations.

Leona's Foster Louis Thompson was primarily instrumental in obtaining the grant money for the courtroom which was completed in 1977. Noting that the recognition ceremony was long overdue, Judge Byron Ryder and the county commissioners made an official proclamation and presented Thompson with a plaque in recognition of his efforts. A larger plaque will hang in the District Courtoom honoring all who were were involved.
Special guests recognized at the ceremony included former Commissioner Curtis Easterling, and former County Attorney John Mallard, former Judge Bill Mc- Adams and Earl Hill Moore.
