Hunter P. Jones
Hunter P. Jones (H.P.), 73, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away July 17, 2010, at his residence. He was born February 7, 1937, in Buffalo, Texas, to Percell and Ethel Jones. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Jimmie Sue Roach Jones, four children, Lisa Jones, Teresa LeGalley and husband Ed, Michael Jones and wife Amy, Kelly Jones and wife Suzan; grandchildren, Kristian, Shae and Dean LeGalley, Hunter D., Ezekiel, Deckland, Lawson and Maren Jones; sister, Pauline Graham and husband Craig.
An Army Veteran, Jones loved the outdoors, traveling and spending time with his family. Hunter -- or H.P. -- was an excellent teacher and mentor, always leading by example. He was a great inspiration to his family as well as the many lives he touched. He was involved and respected in many civic organizations including the Albuquerque Jaycees, Boy Scouts and his Church. While several found him to be one of few words, his words carried great wisdom and encouragement. His support for his family served as a source of comfort and inspiration for his children as they strive to achieve their goals with the values of honesty, respect and his sense of service. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Graveside services for Hunter were held on Tuesday, July 27, 2010, 10:30 a.m. Santa Fe National Cemetery with military honors. Hunter’s family and friends will have a Memorial Service to celebrate his life at the Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Buffalo on July 31, 2010, at 2:00 p.m.
