Disabled Veterans to donate new van On Wednesday July 28th at 2pm, the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 63 and the DAV Auxiliary Unit 63, will donate a new van to the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System. The dedication will take place at the Palestine Mall, just outside the V A Clinic. The new van will replace the van currently in service taking veterans from the V A Clinic in Palestine to and from the V A Hospitals in Temple and Waco, at no cost to the veteran. This van program, which the DAV Chapter furnishes to the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System, is an ongoing commitment to helping the veterans in our area receive the health care which they have earned by their unselfish service in the United States Armed Services. Dr. William Harper, Chief of Staff for the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System, will be on hand to accept the new van. Ms. Sherry Hughes, Chief of Voluntary Services, and Kevin Bergan, Voluntary Services Specialist, will also be on hand to help with the dedication. The DAV Chapter 63 and DAV Auxiliary Unit 63 thanks all who gave to the Van Fund over the last 2 or so years and hope they will attend the dedication. Please remember that the Van Fund is an ongoing operation, and that we will have to replace the new van in 2 to 3 years. The general public is very generous to the Van Fund, and truly support our veterans. All the Volunteer Drivers not on duty will attend this event. Without them we would not have transportation for our veterans, not only in Anderson County, but also in the adjacent counties. Refreshments will be served, and we urge the general public to attend. |
