BISD students attend SWOSU’s largest band camp in recent years
      Southwestern Oklahoma State University’s 55th annual band camp, which was held July 11-16 on the Weatherford campus, attracted 517 students from three states -- including a large group from Buffalo High School and BJHS.

Beloved teacher honored with surprise birthday party
      Margaret Heggins of Jewett was honored Tuesday with a surprise birthday party organized by Patsy Randle, Josephine Randle and Linda Amos -- friends and former students of the veteran teacher. Ms. Heggins taught 4th, 5th and 6th grades at Buffalo’s G.B. Bennett School from 1952-60.

      Members of the Buffalo Chapter of AARP enjoyed a potluck luncheon, fellowship and an informative program at their July meeting on 7-20-2010. Even with many regulars out of town, attendance was up and everyone had a good time.

BHS fills Assistant Principal spot
      The BISD school board met in special session on Monday evening, July 26, with an important objective: to approve the hiring of a new assistant principal for Buffalo High School. They unanimously voted to employ Geoffery Bowdoin in that position. They also approved a budget amendment.

     Rep Jim Dunnam presents a Texas Flag that flew over the State Capitol to Leon County 4H Vice President Reagan Robertson at the Leon County 4H Banquet.

Disabled Veterans to donate new van
      On Wednesday July 28th at 2pm, the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 63 and the DAV Auxiliary Unit 63, will donate a new van to the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System. The dedication will take place at the Palestine Mall, just outside the V A Clinic.

Leon County Sheriff’s Report
      07-14-10 Deputy Jack Tomlinson was dispatched to CR 480 in Centerville in reference to a residential burglary alarm. Deputy Chris Nash responded to CR 2691in Buffalo to speak with a complainant in reference to a suspicious vehicle parked on the property. Lt. Kevin Ellis met with a complainant at LCSO in reference to a report of phone harassment.

      Sheriff’s Report Number 499- Three head loose horses, FCR-521. DPS Purnell arrests DWI, Mile 208. Report from south part of County, one driver just pointed a gun at another driver when passing. Sewer backing into house on Nicholas, Teague City worker called. WPD Keathley to report one dog killed another on San Saba.
