Sylvia Gibson Sigford

Sylvia Gibson Sigford, 71, born on December 9,1938 in Centerville, Texas, was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 11, 2010. Services were held Thursday, July 15th at 10:00a.m. at the New Salem Baptist Church of Centerville with Pastor Ray Grissett officiating. Graveside services followed at Gulf Prairie Cemetery in Jones Creek, Texas.

Sylvia was born to Normie and Corene Tilley and her brothers, John Reese Tilley, Edmond "Sonny" Tilley, sisters, Charlene Wallace, Betty Tilley Loyd and Janice Tilley Boyd. She was preceded in death by her husband Melvin Gibson, parents, Normie and Corene Tilley, bother John Reese Tilley, and sister Charlene Wallace. She is survived by her loving husband of 7 years, Jerry Sigford of Centerville; daughter, Lana Rawley and husband, Kevin of Centerville; son Marty Gibson and wife, Jill of Freeport; Randy Gibson and wife, Lisa of West Columbia; beloved stepsons Jimmy Sigford and wife Lorrie of Buffalo, Randy Sigford and wife Angie of Jewett, and Jeffery Sigford of Centerville, granddaughter, Kimberli Moore Hill; grandson, Jeremy Ray Moore and wife Tina; grandson, Justin Gibson and wife, Crystal, grandsons, Tyler and Hunter Gibson, granddaughter, Michaela Gibson and beloved step grandchildren, Shelby and Ashley Gibson, J.T. and Morgan Sigford; and her cherished great-grandkids, Colton, Landen, Colbi, Shelby, Jaycelyn, Madison, Sydney, baby to be Justus. She is also survived by bother, Sonny Tilley and wife Carolyn of Trinity, sister, Betty Loyd of Freeport, and sister, Janice Boyd and husband, Luther of Crockett, special family friend, Shana Clarke of Lake Jackson, dear friend, Peggy Taylor of Freeport, and longest loved best friend Juanelle Suttle of Centerville, and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Sylvia lived most of her life in Freeport, Texas where she raised her children and was a member of Velasco Baptist Church. She was wonderful, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with children and elderly people. Sylvia was an avid gardener and a fabulous cook. She moved to Centerville, Texas in 2003 when she married Jerry Sigford where they shared their life with many family and friends. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Centerville.

Pallbearers will be:Jeremy Moore, Justin Gibson, Tyler Gibson, Hunter Gibson, Colton Dickey, and Jimmy Sigford. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Randy Gibson, Luther Boyd, Mike Boyd, Sonny Tilley, and Kevin Rawley.
