BISD receives funds from Oncor’s Energy Efficiency Program
      BUFFALO, TX – July 5, 2010 – Buffalo Independent School District (BISD) received a check this week from Oncor rewarding the District for installing energyefficient cooling equipment in the newly constructed high school.

Buffalo Police Report
      Chief Pavelka to Commerce Street for business alarm. Upon arrival, officer made contact with employee who advised they had not reset the alarm on the safe. Officer noticed nothing out of the ordinary. Call cleared. Chief Pavelka received call regarding an assault on a juvenile that was being taken to Fairfield ER. Remains under investigation.

Leon County Sheriff’s Report
      06-30-10 Deputy Brian Stafford was dispatched to CR 428 in Marquez in reference to a report of suspicious activity, a possible prowler near the residence. Deputy Chris Nash responded to an apartment complex in Normangee in reference to a verbal disturbance between a mother and daughter.

District Seal Coat in Madison and Leon Counties
      The Texas Department of Transportation's (TxDOT) contractor will be placing a seat coat next week, weather depending. On Monday and Tuesday, July 12th and 13th, they will seal in Madison County. On Monday they will be on FM 1452 from Iron Creek to FM 39. Then on Tuesday, they will seal FM 1372 from FM 39 to the end of the state maintenance.

Freestone County Sheriff’s Report
      Sheriff’s Report Number 497- Young man found on FM-488, parked on wrong side of road, seat belt on, keys in lap, window open, arm hanging outside the door, dead drunk, passed out, arrested by DPS Adams, to Jail, common drunk. Another home intrusion on Cypress, same as a couple of days before, he did it again, left before TPD Cordova could arrive.

Veterans Affairs
      This past Saturday was a bittersweet day for me. I attended the Snowflake Express event put on by the Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America at the Palestine Railroad Park. There was so much laughter and so many tears. So many veterans and others would have to suddenly turn their back and walk away so that they could regain control of their emotions.
