This “big ‘un” didn’t get away

Wesley Mundy (R) and Pierce Johnson (L) pose with Mundy’s carp. (NOTE: To keep things in proper perspective -- the KID is 6’6” !) Van‘Go’photo BHS sophomore Wesley Mundy, 16, landed a whopper while fishing with his friend Pierce Johnson at a private pond at Johnson's home last week. The carp, which Mundy guestimated at 23 lbs, put up a good fight before the teens were able to scoop him onto land using a large feed bucket.

Mundy is an avid fisherman, but even so he was pretty proud of this catch.

“It's the biggest carp I ever caught," Mundy insists, adding, "I'm surprised it didn't break my line. I was only using an 8-lb. line!" The fish bit on a Roadrunner gig and Mundy worked him slowly for about 8-10 minutes.

After taking a photo, the fish was released back into the pond, and Mundy went to his job as a stocker at Brookshire Bros with quite a fish tale.
