Neta June Ellis
Funeral services for Neta June Ellis, age 80, of Buffalo, were held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville, Texas. Rev. Paul Wilson officiated and interment followed in the Centerville Cemetery. Walters Funeral Home in Centerville was in charge of all arrangements.
Neta June Ellis was born on June 2, 1930 in Corning, Arkansas to William Hubbard “Hub” & Effie (Beegles) Reeves. She was raised in Oakwood and a graduate of the Oakwood Class of 1947. Mrs. Ellis was a lifelong resident of Leon County and was very much involved with activities in Leon County. She worked on the Leon County History Book Project and was a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy. Mrs. Ellis was a founding member of the Leon County Genealogical Society and worked many years at the Leisure Lodge in Centerville. She took, copied and organized photographs for the Leon & Madison County History Books and cooked for the Leon County “Meals on Wheels” until just a few months ago. Mrs. Ellis operated and owned the “Old Rainbow Café” for a short period of time later in her life. She loved to play “outlaw volleyball” and was a member of the Living Faith Church. Mrs. Ellis passed away June 18, 2010 in Fairfield, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, T.C. Ellis; sisters, Lilly “Sis” Pierce, Susan Evelyn Watson, Juanita Marie Reeves & Ruby Mae Johnson and brother, Sidney Reeves.
Survivors include daughter, Elizabeth Kay Clopton of Centerville, Texas; sister, Mildred Sheppard of Illinois; grandchildren, Laura Ann Morris of Streetman, Texas, Michael Shane Brown & wife, Ashley of The Woodlands, Texas and Lance Aaron Brown & wife, Kim of Normangee, Texas; ten great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren.
