Alton D. Adams

Funeral services for Alton D. Adams, 69, of Normangee were held Thursday morning at 10 AM at the Walters Funeral Home in Centerville. Rev. Dee Black and Rev. Ross Newton officiated and interment followed in the Clear Creek Cemetery.

Alton was born in rural Normangee, Texas on May 3,1941 to William Alton and Annie (Scott) Adams. He graduated from Milby High School in Houston and graduated college from T.C.U. He was a High School basketball coach in Splendora, Grapeland and, later, at Klein. After coaching, He went to work for McLean Truck Lines, Lee Ways Truck Lines and retired as operations manager from Churchill Truck Lines. He loved playing and watching basketball, gardening and working his cattle on his ranch. His special friends were his border collies, Jaime and Mickey. Alton was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Melba Faye Adams and a step-son, John Kenton McLean. He died at his home on Sunday, June 13, 2010. Surviving family includes his wife, Kathleen Adams, of Normangee; step-son, David McLean, of Normangee; daughters, Tammy Henson and her husband, Gary, of Houston and Lynn Braunagul and her husband, David, of Houston; step-daughters, Kathy Cunningham and her husband, Mark, of San Angelo and Elaine McLean of Leona; grandsons, Cory Henson, Derrick Henson, Shawn Braunagul and Jared Braunagul; granddaughter, April McLean and great granddaughter, Savannah McLean.

Pallbearers were Garry Henson, Derrek Henson, Cory Henson, Don Eckelman, Charlie Scott, Mark Cunningham, Burel Biddle & Marvin Bragewitz.

Honorary pallbearers were Mack Adams, Walter Adams, Quention Shaver, Terry Norman, David McLean & Lewis Jordan.
