Straight from The Horse’s Mouth

Have you ever wondered why books have chapters? An average book runs about 65,000 words. Chapters are helpful because they help break up the action. They set the scene and provide progress to the story line. They are constructive divisions of important events.
Our lives have chapters, too. While most books are limited to about eighteen, if you live a varied life you might fill this quota early on. That's why some people have whole books to chronicle their experience.
The difference between chapters in books and periods in a life is the purpose. In books, chapters divide to bring clarity. In life, I believe, chapters are tests. There is no pass or fail, but the goal is growth. One should be wiser, or stronger, or have some lesson learned at the finish. Sometimes you have to be far on the other side of the event to recognize the lesson. And, of course, if it's not learned you're destined for a do-over.
Glenn and I have several books between us. He has his motorcycle racing book and sailing book with chapters at the end of each involving immigration. He came to the USA from Canada to lengthen his riding season, and moved to Buffalo after living in the Caribbean and South America. I have a book on an adventurous childhood with chapters of entrepreneurship and imagination. My sailing book tells of stretching my horizons to places I never imagined I'd see. There are chapters on improvising in unfamiliar situations and resiliency. All good lessons. We feel blessed.
Glenn and I share the THM Book...one that's still being written. My son Craig (the Geek) got a job in Houston. We're happy for him, but sad that he's gone. My younger son Christopher is moving back home today. He graduated HS, and will attend Navarro this fall. Uh oh! I just realized I'm getting a doover in parenting!
THM Scheduling Notes: June 18th is Open Mic Night and the 25th is Trivial Pursuit/ Pot Luck Dinner. Pop in for a visit and try our fruit freezes and smoothies. Thanks, y'all!
