Funeral services for John Robert Standley age 82, of Buffalo, Texas were held 10 a.m., Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the Walters Buffalo Funeral Home in Buffalo, Texas. Thomas Middlebrook officiated the services and burial was in the Siloam Cemetery near Buffalo, Texas.
John Robert Standley was born on May 16, 1928 in Dallas, Texas to Robert R. and Lillian Mae (Glenn) Standley. He graduated from Adamson High School, Dallas, Texas and S.M.U, and he retired from Sears as Traffic Manager after thirty six years of service. He is listed in Who’s-Who for his accomplishments in the field of Transportation. He was an active York Rite Mason holding a K.Y.C.H. He served many years as Secretary Treasure of the Buffalo Church Of Christ, and he served more than twenty years as Executive Director of the Buffalo Housing Authority. He was a Veteran of the US Army Air Corp during World War II and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was an active member of the Buffalo Lodge #554 serving as Chaplain, Past Worthy Patron Of Buffalo OES, Shriner and Secretary of the Teague Chapter, Council and Commandery. John was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Margaret Alene Burton, wife May Jones Standley, and grandson, John Standley Jarvis. Mr. Standley went to be with his Lord on May 24, 2010 in Palestine, Texas.
Surviving family includes his wife, Sue Ann Standley of Buffalo, Texas; daughter, Vicki Renee Standley of Bullard, Texas; three sons, Tommy Page of Fairfield, Texas, Joe Page and wife, Julia of Jewett, Texas and Elbert Page and wife, Cindy of Leona, Texas; eleven grand children and five great grandchildren.
The pallbearers were Calvin Williams, Craig Graham, Wallace Jones, Terry Ezell, Mike Pickens, and Richard McLelland, The honorary pallbearers were the Buffalo Masonic Lodge Members.
