A black Lab

News from City Hall
      The City of Buffalo has finished up some recent sewer upgrades, including adding newer, large lift stations in high use areas and removing old, obsolete stations that are no longer needed. Unfortunately, we have already run into some old problems that need to be addressed. Items are showing up in the sewer grinding pumps that are causing damage and sometimes complete failure of the new pumps.

Three Leon County Schools graduate 150 seniors
      Three of the five Leon County High Schools held commencement ceremonies on Friday evening, May 28, 2010. The faculty and staff of Centerville, Leon and Normangee each said farewell to the class of 2010 with similar fanfare.

BISD bids farewell to long-time teachers
      Fellow staff members at Buffalo ISD hosted a retirement reception for Margarita Reeder and Susan Wilder on Wednesday afternoon at the BHS cafeteria. Family members, fellow teachers and former students took advantage of the opportunity to express their appreciation to these ladies who have devoted so many years to the students at BISD.

Marva Beck at Tea Party in Jewett
      Jewett is the place to be on Monday, June 7th for the next meeting of the Leon County Tea Party. The evening begins with a Potluck Supper at 5:30 p.m., followed by the program at 7 p.m. The featured speaker is Marva Beck, a True Texas Conservative running for State Representative for District 57, which encompasses five counties, including Leon County.

Leon County Sheriff’s Report
      05-19-10 Deputy Bart Dorman was dispatched to Broad St. in Oakwood in reference to a suspi- cious person. Deputy Brian Stafford contacted a complainant on CR 427 in Marquez in reference to a burglary report. Deputy Sharon William responded to FM 831 in Buffalo to meet with a complainant regarding phone threats.

Solemn ceremony and high style at 8th grade graduation
      The 8th Grade Class of Buffalo Junior High celebrated the completion of their junior high studies with a graduation and awards ceremony on Friday, May 28. Dressed to the nines, the sixty students were looking very much like the young men and young ladies that will be moving up to Buffalo High School in the fall, and their families were justifably proud.

BHS seniors wrap up their 4H and FFA careers
      The 2010 Leon County Livestock Show in April was the final opportunity for BHS seniors to exhibit their 4H and FFA project animals. Some of them had shown since they were third graders, and many will help pay for their college education with money earned in the livestock show auctions.

      Female Roughneck too hot, carrying to ER in private vehicle. Yep, summer is here. And in Kirvin area, a 26 year old has same symptoms. The cure for these problems is plenty of good old fashioned ice water with you at all times….No, not one 12 ounce bottle…..Carry something that’ll hold 2-3 gallons, use it often.

      The Oakwood school cafeteria occasionally serves a purpose other than feeding hungry, hyper children. Thursday night, it was a place to honor those Jr. High and High School Students who have excelled academically this school year.
