Oakwood Prom
The Unforgettable Sea of Love

It was a beautiful night filled with beautiful young people "dressed to the Nines". Oakwood's 2010 Prom theme was "The Unforgettable Sea of Love" and it was indeed unforgettable.
The decorations were amazing! From the sophisticated place settings and the food laden buffet, to the under the sea decorations and the bubbles floating across the dance floor, even the DJ commented that it was the best decorations of any prom he had been to this year.
This party was jumpin'! The DJs played a mix of "oldies" from the 80's and 90's (You'll be glad to know that Boys to Men are still a prom staple.), some more modern bump and grind music (It was something else to see the kids doing The Stanky Leg and seeing "How low can you go?".), and a sprinkling of country (Everybody sang along to Take A Ride on My Big Green Tractor.). There was a lot of line dancing. And I do not mean just country! Anybody out there remember the Electric Slide and Boot Scoot 'n Boogie? There are some new ones out there now too!
About half way through the night, OISD Superintendent Richard Scoggin called up students and presented them with certificates for several awards.
For the Juniors: Prom Prince and Princess was Marcus Howard and Felicia Williams. Most Beautiful and Most Handsome went to Nakethia Crenshaw and Robert Myrick. Class Clown was Alias Sardaneta. Most Shy was Rickeshia Owens. Most Athletic Boy and Girl were Marcus Howard and Felicia Williams. The Biggest Redneck Award went to Robert Myrick.
For the Seniors: Prom King and Queen were last year's Prince and Princess, Eric Ballard and Jocelyn Williams. Most Beautiful Girl and Most Handsome Boy were Lisa Kay Stevens and J.P. Hicks. Most Shy went to Ashly Moggio. Class Clown was Kealyne Durham. Most Athletic Boy and Girl were Eric Ballard and Lisa Stevens. Most Likely to Succeed was Latifah Watkins. Biggest Redneck was Randall Dunn.
Before the night was over, everyone had full bellies, sore feet, and lasting memories.
