Leon G. Russell

Memorial services for Mr. Leon G. Russell, 67, will be held on Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at 2:00p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Jewett. Rev. Donnie Holt will officiate.

Mr. Russell passed away on Thursday, May 13, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Regional Health Center in Bryan.

He was born in Viola, Wisconsin on April 6, 1943, to William and Charlotte Russell. He graduated from Kickapoo High School in Viola, WS and entered into the U.S. Army. He married Carol on May 1, 1965, and shared over forty-five years together. Mr. Russell worked as a general foreman for BALCO in Aurora, Illinois before moving to Houston in 1979 where he went to work for Gray Tool Co. He later retired as a sales coordinator from ABBVETCO Gray in Houston. Mr. Russell enjoyed hunting for arrow heads, fishing, playing golf, and was a drag racer in his youth. He was also a huge Green Bay Packers fan.

Mr. Russell was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jewett.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Russell of Lake Limestone; one son, Mark Russell & wife Cora of Angleton; one daughter, Susan Puett & husband Kent of St. Michael, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Shannen Puett, Andrew Puett, Leilani Russell, and Khadiatu Russell; five sisters, Arlene Simson & husband Emil of Viola, WS, Verlene Neubauer & husband Otto of Aurora, IL, Joanne Jacobson & husband Ron of Richland Center, WS, Jane Harbort of Madison, WS, and Betty Bolstad & husband Dave of Ferryville, WS; two brothers, Billy Russell & wife Shirley of Aurora, IL and Don Russell of Caledonia, Michigan; sister-in-law, Joan Husarik of Lake Limestone; special friend, Mick Robinson & wife Cheryl of Temple; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Russell was preceded in death by one sister, Sharon Eggert; two brothers, Bobby Russell and Jerry Russell; and one brother-in-law, Edward Husarik.
