The BHS track team battled at Whitehouse on May 3rd and 4th at the Regional Track Championships. Kelsey Canady competed in the 100M Dash prelims on Monday. Kaila Grissett placed in the top eight on Monday to qualify for the finals in the 200M Dash. She placed 5th in the finals. More ... Twenty-one BHS students and their sponsors boarded a charter bus on Thursday afternoon, May 6, to travel to Louisville, Kentucky for the national archery tournament. Over 6000 contestants were expected at Louisville for the NASP (National Archery in the School Program) tournament. More ... The Lady Bison softball team had a bye this week after defeating Hemphill for the bi-district title last week. The next round in the playoffs will take them to the Regional Quarterfinals against the Lady Warriors of Warren High School. The one-game, winner-take-all playoff contest will be at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville on Friday, May 14 at 7:00 pm. More ... Mark your calendar, Football Fans! The sophomore class at BHS is planning a Powder Puff football game on Thursday, May 20th at Brewer Field. The fun kicks off at 6:00 p.m. and your $3 ticket will do more than just get you in for the game -- rumor has it that you won’t want to miss the “special halftime entertainment”. More ... The Centerville Tigers lost to Deweyville on May 6th and May 8th. Both coaches agreed to a 2-of-3 series, and each game was decided by a single run. If the ball had bounced the right way the Tigers could have won and advanced to the playoffs but they had a good year and good luck to Deweyville in the playoffs. GAME ONE More ... To give everyone a chance to meet the 2010-2011 Oakwood Jr. and Sr. High Cheerleaders, a fundraiser dinner was held on Tuesday night. OISD Superintendent Richard Scoggin cooked the hamburgers and hot dogs on the BBQ pit out behind the school cafeteria. The cheerleaders made the desserts. They also helped to serve while wearing one of the football player's jerseys. More ... Regional Track Meet results from May 3rd and May 4th The girls placed 3rd overall in the region as a team scoring 64 points behind runner-up Marlin 66 points and regional champ Daingerfield with 73 points.
