Oscar Randy Mullenax

Funeral services for Randy Mullenax, age 60, of Kirvin were held 2 PM, Sunday, May 9, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Buffalo. Rev. Jay Fraze, pastor of the Wortham and Kirvin Methodist Churches, officiated and burial followed in the Woodland Cemetery near Kirvin. Walters’ Buffalo Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Oscar Randy Mullenax was born February 1, 1950 in Palestine, Texas to Vallie and Mollie (Henson) Mullenax. Randy was a lifelong resident of Leon and Freestone Counties. He graduated from Buffalo High School in 1968. Prior to going into business on his own, he was employed by Lipsey, Inc. for about sixteen years. He owned his own Heavy Equipment Contracting business, Mull Inc. Through the years, he serviced many government contracts. At the time of his death, he was constructing the largest fish hatchery in the country at Jasper, Texas for Texas Parks And Wildlife. He was preceded in death by his parents. Randy passed away at his home on Friday evening, May 7, 2010.

Surviving family includes his wife, Nelda Mullenax of Kirvin; sons, Blaine Mullenax of Jasper, Joseph Mullenax of College Station and Wade Williams of Dallas; daughters, Morgen Frazier and husband, Collin, of Cyprus and Sophie Garcia and husband, Chris, of League City; brothers, Rondal Mullenax and wife, Linda, of Buffalo and Gondal Mullenax and wife, Sandra, of Marquez; a sister, Cindy Port and husband, Mike, of Buffalo; eight grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The pallbearers were Joe Latham, Toby Lewis, Tommy Harrison, Billy Patterson, Thomas Lucas, Nelson Villaal, Dwight Latham and Jeff Blann. The honorary pallbearers were J.R. “Sonny” Sessions, Rick Wallace, Ernie Ferguson, Thomas Davis, Roger McCrary, Richard Owens, John Jones and Mark Harrison.
