Alice Elizabeth Flaherty Grimes

A Mass of Christian Burial Service was held on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at 3:00p.m. at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Centerville. The Most Rev. Alvaro Corrado del Rio S.J.D.D. officiated.

Visitation was held following the service from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett.

Funeral services for Mrs. Grimes were held on Sunday, May 9, 2010, at 2:00p.m. at the funeral home. Bro. Lee Weiler officiated. Interment followed the services at Marquez Cemetery.

Mrs. Grimes, 84, passed away on Thursday, May 6, 2010, at her residence near Marquez. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in a Catholic Orphanage until the age of nine when she was adopted by Thomas & Mary Flaherty. She met the love of her life, Roy Grimes while he was stationed in Massachusetts in his military service. They were soon married and moved to his home in rural Leon County near Marquez. Mrs. Grimes was a dedicated homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by three daughters, Kathy Spivey & husband Wayne of Huntsville, Shirley McCune & husband Jimmy of Marquez, and Gwen Robins & husband Robbie of Jewett; one son, Ronny Grimes of Marquez; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Ginny Ferguson & husband John of Clinton, Massachusetts; a special cousin, Paul Cummings of New Hampshire; a sister-in-law (but more like another sister), Pauly Sanders of Waco; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
