Leon County Deputy Sheriff Robert Ramos retires
Robert Ramos stands beside his incredible cake created especially for his retirement party.
The family of Leon County Deputy Sheriff Robert Ramos threw a surprise retirement party last week in Jewett. Several dozen family members, friends and fellow officers gathered to help Ramos celebrate.
Ramos began his career in law enforcement with Freestone County in 1980. His daughter, Sharra said he actually wasn’t looking for a job in police work, but ran into someone in a grocery store in Fairfield who said Freestone County needed a deputy sheriff. He applied for the job and the rest is history.
After working for Freestone County for 12 years Ramos moved to the Leon County Sheriff’s Department where he worked until April 30, 2010.
Future plans? Maybe a little fishing. Maybe a little yard work. Mostly he wants to spend time with his wife, kids and grandkids.
