The call to duty was in her blood
      Cathy Vaughn was born in Pasadena, California to an Army dad who worked in the aerospace industry. With the armed service in her blood it seemed natural for her to join the Army when she graduated high school in 1978.

Leon Seniors and Juniors enjoy “A Night in Vegas”
      The theme for Leon High School Prom this year was “A night in Vegas”, with a visit from Elvis being one of the highlights. Elegantly dressed juniors and seniors were treated to an evening of lights, food and entertainment, Vegas style. The prom was held at a transformed Jewett Civic Center.

Buffalo High Band earns top rating at metroplex contest
      The Buffalo High School Band competed at the Sandy Lake Fun Fest Competition on Monday, May 3rd, where they were awarded a #1 Rating. It was the second time this year that the Bison Band earned the superior rating at a competition, and Director Todd Baker is very proud of the progress his group is making.

LCRTA hears State Convention report
      The Leon County Retired Teachers met on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at the Centerville Municipal Building at 12:00 pm. May host and hostesses, Larry and Judy Dorsett, Carol Ball, and Jane Ann Durbin, provided a delicious luncheon with fajitas and all of the trimming. The green and yellow tablecloths and yellow flower decorations set the stage for a definite spring atmosphere.

Canning seminar shows can do attitude
      The Texas AgriLife Extension Service in Leon County hosted a Home Food Preservation Seminar on April 30, 2010 from 10 am to 2 pm, at Stewart Memorial United Methodist Church in Buffalo. Registration began at 9:30 am. and the program was over at 2:00pm.
