Veterans enjoy a big day at Champion Ranch
On Saturday, May 1, 2010 The Veterans Services Officers of Leon County held its first annual “Veteran’s Appreciation Day at Champion Ranch, outside of Centerville.

The day began early with a group of motorcyclists gathering at the Leon County Courthouse and motorcading to the ranch. At 10:00 awards and presentations were made and then veterans were given an opportunity to visit with representatives from veteran’s organizations that offer services to vets.
Approximately 500 veterans and their spouses were treated to a free lunch catered by County Cousins. Following lunch the Patriot Guard Riders of the First Cavalry Division Horse Detachment from Ft. Hood entertained guests with a dazzling display of horsemanship and shooting prowess.
Several local and state politicians were on hand to thank and congratulate the veterans for their sacrifice and service.
