Prom Night, 2010: European Romance
BHS seniors Jared Hawthorne and Morgan Anderson were selected 2010 Prom King and Queen,
It has been said, "You don't remember days -- you remember Moments". Well, there were plenty of memorable moments on Saturday, May 1st, when Buffalo High School's Class of 2011 hosted the Junior/Senior Prom. The weather was perfect as the young ladies and gentlemen arrived at the BHS gym, which was transformed with twinkling lights and huge photos of famous landmarks to reflect this year's prom theme, "European Romance". Whether attending as couples or with friends, the students, too, were transformed for the Big Night. The young men were dressed to impress in suits and tuxes -- personalized, perhaps, with a new baseball cap or jaunty fedora. The young ladies were stunning in special-occasion dresses, sequined hairdos, manicures and pedicures (in flip-flops, as often as not!) They certainly deserved the admiring stares which they received from their classmates. All that finery was not lost, as cameras flashed throughout the night. The kids photographed each other, the local newspaper photographers were snapping away, and Precious Memories photographer Kathryn Gilliam was available for profes- sional portraits. As a special treat, just as they might find on the streets of Paris, two professional charicacture artists were available to sketch the students and many took advantage of that unique opportunity.

A plethora of goodies was available, thanks to the junior moms, including a fountain of chocolate. After a slow start, deejay Joyce Gonzales coaxed the dancers out onto the floor and the evening got underway in earnest. Many of the students danced the night away while the rest just enjoyed the show. Around 11:15 Gonzales invited the seniors to form a circle to enjoy a special song, "Friends Forever", and an emotional group hug. The event closed with the announcement of the students' selections for this year's Prom Royalty. Prom Queen and King were seniors Morgan Anderson and Jared Hawthorne. The Prom Princess, Jordyn Briscoe, shared the spotlight with co-Princes Jessy Champion and Ryan Read. Morgan Anderson and Jonathan Cates got the nod as Cutest Couple. Best Dressed honors went to Meredith Shaw and Dylan Ansley.
