Going home for driver’s license leads to drug bust

On 04-29-10 Officers of Freestone County Sheriff’s Office, Fairfield Police Dept. and the Department of Public Safety executed a Search Warrant at an apartment located on McDonald Street. Their actions had been initiated by a traffic stop made by Deputy Robert Willis which by chance occurred as the driver of the vehicle pulled up to the apartment on McDonald. The driver claimed to have a driver’s license inside the residence. Dep. Willis knocked upon the door to have the driver’s girlfriend produce the driver’s DL from inside, but when the door was opened there was a very strong odor of unburned marijuana which wafted out. The apartment exterior was secured by other officers, and all occupants asked to step outside.

Deputy Willis obtained and then executed a Search Warrant which yielded 38 grams of marijuana, 5 grams of cocaine, an electronic scale and empty baggies.

Arrested was Lashawnda Susan Henderson of Mc- Donald Street in Fairfield, charged with Possession of Marijuana, Less than 2oz., Manufacture/Delivery of Controlled Substance, More than 4 Less than 200 grams and Abandoning/Endangering a Child, due to her children being inside the residence. These three charges are classed as Felony 1, Felony 2 and Class B Misdemeanor.

Ms. Henderson was transported to and incarcerated in the Freestone County Jail. Officers present were Deputies Jeremy Shipley, Travis Robertson and Cory House, FPD Officers Utsey and Markham, DPS Troopers Curtis Putz and Rickey Jones and Sheriff Ralph Billings.
