Ladies Results at District
The Lady Bison track team showed well at the 21AA track meet last Wednesday and Thursday. The team accrued 78 points, and advanced seven of its eight members to the regional track meet May 3rd and 4th in Whitehouse.
Success came early for the Lady Bison. The shot put and triple jump were the first events for varsity girls. Samantha Atkinson claimed the third place medal and a regional berth along with defending state champion Samantha Taylor of Corrigan Camden and two-time re- gional qualifier Christie Wellman of Centerville. All three Buffalo triple-jump contestants advanced to finals, leaping over the 33' mark for the first time all season. Kaila Grissett had the third best leap going into the final three attempts with Raven Lott and Kelsey Canady close behind. Lott's second attempt in the finals moved her into second place, but Hannah Word of Centerville nailed a 34'+ jump for the Lady Tigers to finish 1-2. Kelsey Lagrone won the event with Word finishing second. Lott qualified for regional as the third place jumper. Grissett and Canady will be the alternates for the district.

The Lady Bison stacked the sprints, advancing three runners to finals in the 100 meter dash and two in the 200 meter dash. Canady claimed silver in the 100 meter dash, and Lott earned the alternate slot with a fourth place finish. Grissett earned bronze and a regional berth in the 200 meter dash.
Brooke Trahan, Canady, Grissett and Lott finished second in the 400 meter relay, running their best time of the season. Grissett, Canady, and Lott were joined by freshman Tionna Adams in the 800 meter relay. That quartet claimed bronze and will run at the regional meet.
Freshman miler Kylan Ferguson pulled away from the competition in the final lap, and won the 1600 meter run in 5:56. The nearest competitor was ten seconds behind.
Whitehouse High School will host the regional meet Monday and Tuesday, May 3rd and 4th. The top two finishers in each event will compete in Austin at the state meet May 14th and 15th.
