OISD Bond Election Meetings and Early Voting Schedules
      Oakwood ISD is holding several meetings throughout the month of April to inform the public about the upcoming Bond Election. The first meeting is scheduled for April 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the St. Paul Community Center. The second is scheduled for April 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the OISD Auditorium. On April 26, the OHS Auditorium will be opened again at 6:30 p.m. for another public meeting.

OISD holds Bond Election meeting in St. Paul
      OISD Superintendent Richard Scoggin, along with school board members Terry Johnson and Nathan Smith and Board President Mack Botard were in attendance at last night's bond election meeting at St. Paul Community Center. According to Scoggin, "I'm not here to tell you to vote yes or no on this bond election. You'll have to decide that for yourself.

Oakwood UIL heading to Regionals
     Oakwood did really well at the area UIL competitions this year. They did so well in fact, that several students are going on to compete at the Regionals on April 23 at Blinn College in Brenham.

Oakwood City Council perseveres to hold meeting
      The Oakwood City Council held its regular meeting this week, but were short some of its members. Councilman Barry Olive was "down in his back" and while Councilwoman Bobbye Bullock missed the meeting to go to another meeting to represent the council. It starting looking dim when the firetruck sirens started screeching.

Buffalo Police Report
     Sgt Ferrand to Humphreys Street for verbal disturbance. Upon arrival, officer made contact with male subject who advised that two female subjects had been in a verbal argument. After gathering his personal belongings, he left the scene. Officer Hutchison to Candy Lane for one vehicle crash. Crash report was filed.

Leon County Sheriff’s Report
      04-07-10 Deputy Jerry Grimes was dispatched to S. Broadway in Jewett in reference to a violation of a protective order. Offender was later arrested by warrant and transported to jail. Deputy Jerry Grimes contacted a complainant in reference to a report of identity theft. Deputy Jerry Grimes responded to N. Commerce in Marquez for a report of theft of a riding lawn mower.

Freestone County Sheriff’s Report
      DPS Putz jails DWI, Mile 206. Deputy Shaw finds open gate at business on Old 75, clears area, summons manager, copper wire and trailer stolen, one fence cut. DPS Putz also to jail with driver who, when saw DPS Black and White, started throwing full and empty beer cans out of the window….To Jail.
