Yellow slickers were the uniform of the day as members of Texas Cattlemen’s Trail Ride set out on a 13-mile trip Saturday morning. Over seventy participants signed up for the Texas Cattlemen's Trail Ride on Saturday, according to secretary Martha Laird. The riders and wagons covered a 13-mile circle ride through some of most scenic back roads of Leon County. Beginning at the Nelson Ranch on Brushy Cemetery Road, they travelled to the Flo Mall (okay, the Flo Store) by lunchtime. The rains kept the heat at bay, and most of the riders were ready with yellow slickers. The Texas Cattlemen's Trail Ride club hosts a spring trail ride and another in the fall.
