Trailriders club enjoys springtime in the Flo woods
      Over seventy participants signed up for the Texas Cattlemen's Trail Ride on Saturday, according to secretary Martha Laird. The riders and wagons covered a 13-mile circle ride through some of most scenic back roads of Leon County. Beginning at the Nelson Ranch on Brushy Cemetery Road, they travelled to the Flo Mall (okay, the Flo Store) by lunchtime.

It’s weedy down in Texas
      COLLEGE STATION - - The flooding may be over, but it seems like it's raining weeds down in Texas, according to reports from Texas AgriLife Extension Service personnel. A combination of factors from a wet winter to lower fertility rates on improved pastures are behind the extra heavy flush of weeds this year, they say.

OHS Ag Mechanics drive off with award
      Congratulations to the Oakwood Ag Mechanics team! They have done it again! The kids in Wesley Henson's Ag Mechanics class restored a 1951 Farmall Super C farm tractor this year. They entered it in the East Texas Tractor Show held in Canton, Texas on April 9 and 10. The students' hard work paid off when they won the FFA “Outstanding Display Award."

Kids’ Camps Need Your Help
      Do you remember seeing all the pictures and reading in the newspapers about Kids’ Camps last summer? In case you didn’t know, most of these were provided through our local county extension office. Kids were provided with day camp activities to enrich their summer. They were excited to be fishing, gardening, cooking, and learning about future project opportunities with 4-H.

Leon County 4-H brings home the gold!!!
      Saturday, April 17, 2010 Leon County 4-H members travel to Waco, Texas for the District 8 4-H Roundup event. District 8 4-H Roundup is held annually in Waco, Texas on the campus of TSTC. 4-H Roundup is a qualifying event for youth between the ages of 9 and 18 that have successful placed in a qualifying spot at the county level.
