Lady Bison Slide in to Second Place

The Lady Bison softball team slid into second place in the district race last week. Two wins coupled with Centerville's loss to Onalaska catapulted Buffalo into second while the Lady Tigers dropped to third. Buffalo will host district leader Corrigan-Camden on Tuesday before they host contender Onalaska on Friday. The Lady Bison will wrap up district the following Tuesday in Anderson-Shiro.
Buffalo hosted Groveton on Tuesday and picked up an 11-0 victory in four and a half innings. Rachel Morris was the winning pitcher. The Buffalo junior gave up one hit, walked two and struck out three.
On the offensive end, Meredith Shaw pegged a single and drew two walks. Lindsey McGill and Nikki Dorman garnered the only other hits in the game. Jordyn Briscoe walked twice while Haley Ellison, Courtney Cunningham, Jennifer Pate and Rachel Morris walked once each. Pate and Morris also reached on errors.
Trinity hosted the Lady Bison on Friday. Buffalo controlled the game from start to finish, winning 11-1 in five innings. Morris was the winning pitcher, and led the team offensively as well. She hit one out early in the game and recorded singles in her next two at-bats. Morris also reached on an error.
Pate cleaned the bases with a grand slam home run in the second inning to give Buffalo a 6-0 advantage. McGill hit two singles with extra bases while Briscoe rapped a double. Ellison had a single as did Heather Sigert. Shaw, Cunningham, Dorman, and Briscoe all drew walks.
